WWE 2K23 Player Resurrects Beloved Women’s PPV In-Game

In WWE 2K23, a player used the arena creator to bring back a popular pay-per-view from WWE’s library for the women’s division. That show from 2018 gave female wrestlers a chance to demonstrate the progress of their craft, as well as spotlighting some of the great ladies from the company’s history. WWE has not hosted the event since, yet the game enables players to create the ultimate card for this show.

Since the arrival of WWE 2K23, gamers have been testing the wide range of creation options available. From custom wrestlers to characters from other organizations, players are able to craft the ideal promotion to go along with the already huge selection of superstars. The arenas have also been quite varied, from intimate spaces like the ECW Arena to huge stadiums where players can stage their own spectacular events.

@CawSushi, otherwise known as Sushi, is the Twitter user who is well-known for their WWE 2K23 creations. This individual has managed to recreate the popular women’s show, WWE Evolution, in the game. This was done with remarkable accuracy, taking into account the simple setup of the original event which was organized quickly due to the negative reaction to women being unable to compete in Saudi Arabia. Sushi also ensured that the ring and the announcer table align with the original show’s logo and colors.

Considered to be one of the premier WWE events of 2018, Evolution was a groundbreaking show that assembled female performers from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and NXT UK, Ronda Rousey being the star of the night competing against Nikki Bella. However, the most highly acclaimed match of the show was between Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in a last woman standing match, which marked Lynch’s rise to “The Man”. Moreover, the show paid homage to legends such as Lita and Trish Stratus, and also featured female wrestlers from outside of WWE, such as Ruby Soho, Toni Storm, and Athena.

Despite the strong support from fans, the show has not been brought back on account of reported low viewership and there’s no indication that the company intends to re-launch it in the future. Nevertheless, Sushi’s work at least gives players the opportunity to keep the show alive in some way and possibly publish their dream cards online for others to view. With regard to other classic shows Sushi and other developers can recreate, there are numerous options in wrestling’s history that can be chosen from, from WWE’s King of the Ring to WCW staples such as Starrcade.

The newest installment of WWE 2K can be found on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
