Another Update Set to Arrive in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Next-Gen Version
It appears that a patch is set to launch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the near future, potentially as soon as the upcoming week. This follows the release of the next-gen update for The Witcher 3, which gave gamers access to native versions of the game on newer consoles as well as additional content.
Despite numerous reports of technical issues for the PC version, the long-anticipated next-gen upgrade of The Witcher 3 was largely welcomed and was accompanied by a surge of engagement and players. Many commended CD Projekt Red for the free patch, which included the necessary performance and ray-tracing options, an alternate approach to casting Signs, a different camera angle, and a new mission inspired by the Netflix series.
The official Witcher Twitter account revealed the features included in the recently released boxed copy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition. While the physical version of the game contains the improvements, expansions, and DLC, it should be noted that some features may be unavailable depending on the version. For instance, players on last-gen consoles cannot pause gameplay during cutscenes and no photo mode is available, unlike on the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
Marcin Momot, the Global Community Director for CD Projekt Red, added to the tweet with an additional message that read “keep your eyes peeled for a new patch – coming very soon!” When asked to provide an exact timeline, Momot replied “definitely not this week” but then followed up with “hopefully [next week] but still pending confirmation.” At the time of writing, there is no news on the details of this patch, however, players should not expect more than bug, quest, and performance fixes. This upcoming patch would be the first for The Witcher 3 since the hotfixes dedicated to improving PC stability were released last month.
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the extra content for the Nintendo Switch will still be released, though at an unspecified date. The Witcher 3 fans have a lot to look forward to, given the announcement of an entire new saga and the remake of the first installment of the trilogy. An expansion and sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 will likely come out before any of those projects, but Witcher enthusiasts can take solace in the fact that they will be well taken care of in the future.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is accessible on a variety of platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
