Ubisoft Introduces The Crew: Motorfest

Ubisoft has made known their new game, The Crew: Motorfest, which is not exactly a revolutionary addition to the open-world racing genre. The Crew has been able to draw a large following due to its two titles, and many had been expecting the release of a new one. Now, Ubisoft has officially unveiled it and it is sure to be welcomed by those who were awaiting another The Crew game.

In 2018, Ivory Tower released The Crew 2, the latest installment of its successful open-world racing franchise. The game’s reception was lukewarm, yet anticipation grew for what the studio would produce next. This curiosity was answered in 2021 when an unannounced The Crew project – codenamed “Orlando” – was leaked. Ubisoft’s eventual reveal gave fans a look at what the new racing game could be.

Ivory Tower released an official trailer for the upcoming title The Crew: Motorfest, which has a similar tone to Xbox’s Forza Horizon 5. The in-game footage, seen in 4K, has various environments, including beach and rainforest scenes, all located on O’ahu, part of the Hawaiian islands. The game will be offering races, events and challenges made specifically for it and a release date is yet to be announced. However, the studio is now taking registrations for insiders of the game, which is expected to be released later this year.

It may not have come as a shock to some followers, considering a leak in November 2022 which alluded to a potential beta of the upcoming The Crew being released to Steam. What was initially thought to be a DLC for The Crew 2, Motorfest seemingly grew in scale and is now being presented as its sequel.

At an opportune moment, Ubisoft has unveiled the next installment of The Crew series, Motorfest, coming in the wake of the publisher’s delay and cancellation of several future titles, such as Project Q. This indicates that the company is looking to broaden its foothold in the racing genre. How fans of the franchise will respond to the new open-world racing game remains to be seen and Ivory Tower will certainly be eager to fulfill the players’ expectations once it is released.

In 2023, The Crew: Motorfest will be available on Amazon Luna, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
