Fallout 4 Player Builds Incredible Slum Mansion in the Game

Just because the world of Fallout 4 is a post-apocalyptic one doesn’t mean players have to deal with squalor regularly, and one player’s massive and stylish slum mansion ensures they can get away from the destructive waste when need be. Players have been making ample use of the game’s creator tools going on roughly eight years, whether it is their own pirate paradise or a town straight out of Mad Max. Rather than a whole outpost, though, one player kept their focus entirely on themselves when building their home away from post-apocalyptic home.

Fallout 4 was originally released in 2015, taking players to a region dubbed The Commonwealth encompassing the city of Boston and many of its surrounding regions. As with previous Fallout games, players took on the role of a Vault dweller who awakens roughly 200 years after a devastating nuclear war that left most of the Earth an irradiated wasteland littered with raiders, survivor settlements, and mutated monsters. The player’s character, specifically, heads out from Vault 111 after awakening from cryo-sleep to discover their family is missing and sets out to learn of their fate.

The search for their family takes players all over The Commonwealth, which offers plenty of locations to build a home to go back to between missions and exploring the region. Reddit user Sirbalz decided if they were going to build a home, it would be a proverbial dream home that leaves other denizens of the post-apocalyptic wasteland in awe. The end result was a three-story mansion along one of the region’s waterfronts, ensuring Sirbalz had a relaxing view when home but was also easily defendable from raiders and mutants.

Sirbalz’s wasteland mansion was met with plenty of praise from other users on the thread, commending how organized and well-constructed the finished home was. A common point raised by several users was how detailed the Fallout 4 building tools are, with some citing it as being among the biggest reasons they played the game in the first place. Some even felt inspired by Sirbalz’s work, saying they planned to hop back into The Commonwealth to see if they could construct anything as impressive as the slum mansion.

The continued support from both Bethesda and the Fallout community has ensured the building tools have only improved with time, providing more options for players to experiment with in the game. It would not be surprising if the upcoming Fallout 4 next-gen update continued this trend as the game looks to take further advantage of the power the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X provide.

Fallout 4 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
