Mini Prequel Game of the Resident Evil 4 Remake is Out Now

To build further anticipation for the launch of Resident Evil 4, Capcom has initiated a mini prequel ARG to provide insights into the game’s backstory and shed light on the mystery behind Ashley’s abduction. Little was known about the president’s daughter’s abduction, which is a major element of the plot of Resident Evil 4, before the prequel ARG was released.

In Capcom’s survival horror series, Resident Evil 4 has been remade to the same story as its 2005 GameCube counterpart. The game follows agent Leon S. Kennedy as he rescues Ashley Graham, the daughter of the President of the United States, who was kidnapped by a cult in a small Spanish village. While the plot is the same, this remake features a host of new elements, such as improved graphics and atmosphere, as well as better gameplay with six control schemes.

To provide further insights into the backstory of Resident Evil 4, Capcom has developed an ARG website. This website appears to be a secure portal where special agents discuss the kidnapping of the daughter of the President of the United States and the evidence of the car accident that led to her abduction. To keep players excited until the release of Resident Evil 4 on March 24, Capcom has hinted that there may be additional content released daily up to the launch of Resident Evil 4, as the website’s URL reads “day/1.”

This Resident Evil 4 prequel offers insight into Ashley’s background and why Leon S. Kennedy is searching for her in Spain. Capcom has announced that Ashley will be more apt in the Resident Evil 4 remake than she was in the original game. Adjustments to her gameplay will make it easier for Leon to protect her from the Los Illuminados cultists that are pursuing them during escort missions. According to Capcom, these changes will make Ashley less of a nuisance.

Capcom has revealed that a new Virtual Reality version of Resident Evil 4 is in development, following the prequel mini-game that will be released before its launch. This new version will feature the PlayStation Virtual Reality 2 features, however, the date of its release has not been confirmed yet. This is separate from the October 2021 release of Resident Evil 4 VR, which was exclusively released on the Oculus Quest 2.

Resident Evil 4 is set to be available on PC, PS4, PS5, and the Xbox Series X/S platforms on March 24th.
