An impressive Overwatch video demonstrates an incredible Wrecking Ball take-down.
During a round of the original Overwatch, a Wrecking Ball participant brought revenge with their Grappling Claw to an opposing Mei. Many players have been sharing clips from Overwatch 2 recently, but this old Overwatch 1 footage is both a flashback to the first game and a demonstration of how potent Wrecking Ball is once a gamer has achieved mastery. Part of the DLC characters that were added to the beginning of Overwatch, Wrecking Ball, also named Hammond, has been around for nearly five years. Over that period, gamers have attempted to control the mechanized sphere that the hamster rides in, but with varying degrees of success. His abilities, such as his Grappling Claw and Minefield, can be highly disruptive in a scuffle, but it takes a lot of practice to get it right.

Nevertheless, one admirer demonstrated how fulfilling it can be to play the character when used accurately. On Reddit, a user known as ImpracticalTokers shared a clip taken from the MEKA Base area of the Busan map. The Overwatch highlight began with the Reddit user, who was playing as Wrecking Ball, being frozen by Mei. After a few moments, they rolled off the bridge to try and flee from their opponent.
While the facing Mei possibly expected them to grapple back to the point, ImpractialTokers had other plans. After dropping off the edge of the bridge, the Reddit user employed Wrecking Ball’s Grappling Claw to attach to the roof, stopping them from sliding into the void. They then swung upwards toward the objective. However, ImpractialTokers let the force of their mechanized ball fling them back to where they began. This caused them to crash into the unsuspecting Mei player, sending the enemy tumbling back into the abyss.
Unsurprisingly, hordes of the Overwatch community on Reddit cheered the quick play that ImpracticalTokers referred to as their “best-wrecking ball kills to date.” In only a few days, the post has already acquired over 5.2K upvotes, suggesting many other gamers agreed. Numerous fans of the Overwatch series talked about the highlight in the comments section. “As a Wreckingball playing ledge lord, I approve of this clip,” Successful-Idea-2373 said. Additionally, another user complimented the player on their quick thinking, as they noted they did not anticipate them to come back to take out the Mei.
This blast from the past clip from ImpractialTokers comes as gamers keep on playing Wrecking Ball in Overwatch 2. Despite not being one of the most popular picks in the meta, the hero can be extremely troublesome to go up against when used correctly. In addition, a new Wrecking Ball exploit was uncovered that allowed the hero to maintain the additional shields from Adaptive Shield, even when no one was around. It will be interesting to see what other highlights fans post of Hammond in the coming days.
Overwatch 2 is available in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
