In Season 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Is Introducing Infected

A post from the developer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward, has suggested that the Infected game mode may be part of the Season 2 update for the game’s multiplayer matches. This could be good news for fans of the mode who had wanted it to be included in Modern Warfare 2 at launch but were disappointed.

Since its launch, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has seen various patches and updates designed to correct glitches and modify certain elements of gameplay. On February 15, however, the game is due to receive the highly anticipated Season 2 update. This update is anticipated to be one of the largest yet, with the popular Hardcore mode making a return, alongside new weapons, operators, and maps. Following the success of the Season 1 update, Infinity Ward is hoping the new content will encourage players to continue playing the game.

In response to a tweet from a gamer expressing their joy at playing Infected on Call of Duty with friends, the official Call of Duty account seemed to imply that the popular game mode will be part of the Season 2 update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, providing no direct confirmation. However, the response with “We agree. See you Feb 15.” suggests that Infected will be included in the upcoming Season 2 later in February.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 introduced the Infected game mode, where eighteen players spawn in a map with a weapon and one player as the infected. This player is only armed with knives and a tactical insertion and their goal is to infect the other players before the timer runs out. This hectic, frenetic, and sometimes intense game mode could be a remarkable addition to Infinity Ward’s new game, and might help those who are still upset that the Gunfight mode won’t be back in Modern Warfare 2.

Avid gamers that are tired of succumbing to quickscopes and airstrikes might find a more peaceful game of Infected if the mode returns for Season 2. Those searching for a way out from the infected may have plenty of new places to take refuge in if the much-talked-about Valderas Museum map from Modern Warfare 2 is re-introduced, as recent speculations have suggested.

The first-person shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been released and is now playable on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
