Players of Hogwarts Legacy Find A Monument to the Memory of the Late Actor Who Played Hagrid
Since the release of Hogwarts Legacy this February, players have been able to explore the Wizarding World with iconic locations like Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Hogsmeade village, the Dark Forest, and more. In the game, a memorial is also present for the late Scottish actor Robbie Coltraine, who Harry Potter fans will remember as Rubeus Hagrid. This has caused fans to pour over the game’s interpretation of the Wizarding World.
Avalanche Software has made sure to reward players with plenty of secrets and Easter eggs to discover in the enormous space provided. Recently, players stumbled upon a couple of references to From Software’s popular titles Dark Souls and Elden Ring, such as the bonfire located near Inferi Lair, plus oversized gravestones on the wall referencing Limgrave in Elden Ring. Additionally, it appears that the developer has also left subtle nods to the Potter franchise, including a tribute to the late actor Robbie Coltraine.
Why..so.sirius, a TikTok user, captured a moment of their flight from the clock tower to a hut based on Hagrid’s place from the Harry Potter movies. At the back of the hut, by the Black Lake, was a single grave marker with a carved Hippogriff, a reference to Hagrid’s beloved animal companion Buckbeak from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. This small detail was celebrated by fans, despite the fact that it doesn’t fit with the game’s timeline.
Robbie Coltraine, a Scottish actor beloved by Harry Potter fans for his role as Rubeus Hagrid in The Philosopher’s Stone in 2001, sadly passed away in October 2022 due to a range of health issues, including osteoarthritis, type-2 diabetes, and sepsis. This has caused fans to speculate if Avalanche Software has included any more tributes to Hogwarts Legacy for actors who have died, such as Alan Rickman who played Professor Severus Snape.
In the virtual world of Hogwarts Legacy, plenty of references to the Wizarding World have been found. It has come to light that some Easter eggs exist, which only the most dedicated Harry Potter fans would be able to spot. These secrets have been discussed and explored by those immersed in the franchise.
