The Chief Executive Officer of Piranha Games Inc. has confirmed that they are currently working on a new MechWarrior title.

After the release of MechWarrior 4, Piranha Games went on a 17-year break to create other projects such as an online massively multiplayer online game and a mobile spinoff. They also lent their support to Lord of the Rings Online. In 2019, the company went back to its signature franchise, launching MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. It was highly praised for maintaining the classic features of the original games.

MechWarrior In Development

Ross Bullock, president of Piranha Games, has declared on the NoGutsNoGalaxy podcast that a new MechWarrior game is under development. According to Bullock, the new game won’t be a DLC but instead a single-player and co-op title like MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. The game won’t be revealed until sometime in 2023, probably in September. Due to their license of the MechWarrior IP expiring before 2025, Piranha Games is planning to release the game before that date. The game will be available on PC and consoles. In addition, Piranha Games is working on a new expansion for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries named Rise of Rasalhauge, which will add a new quest line, crusader chassis with variants, and enhancements to AI performance and behavior.

After a 17-year-long hiatus between MechWarrior 4 and 5, Piranha Games shifted its attention back to the franchise in 2019 with MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, which was acclaimed for preserving the beloved elements of the classic mainline games.
