Hogwarts Legacy Update Adds Accessibility Feature for Gamers
Hogwarts Legacy has received a new update that includes an important accessibility feature – making areas filled with spiders more navigable. Although no story-related DLC has been announced for Hogwarts Legacy, Avalanche Software is still providing support for the popular fantasy game after its launch through updates.
When it debuted in February of 2023, Hogwarts Legacy became one of the year’s most successful games. Despite the technical issues that presented themselves on the day of release, the title received favorable reviews from Metacritic and Steam users. Avalanche Software has since released several patches to address the game’s most severe problems. More recently, they have added a new accessibility feature, as well as a range of bug fixes.
It could be that an upcoming update for the game Hogwarts Legacy will fix an annoying bug on PS5 where character’s robes get dirty too often. See here for more information.
A significant patch for Hogwarts Legacy has been released by Avalanche Software, featuring the long-awaited Arachnophobia Mode. This can be switched on or off at any moment in the game’s accessibility options menu. All spider enemies have been transformed into a beetle-like creature with roller skates and spider sounds have been minimized or eliminated from the game. Additionally, the small spider ground spawners have been taken away. The patch notes for the recent update demonstrate that Arachnophobia Mode also makes static spider corpses invisible.

The developers say that the spider images shown in the Hogwarts Legacy Field Guide remain unaltered when Arachnophobia Mode is enabled. Collision is still present with invisible static spider bodies. This collision functions as a protective measure to stop Hogwarts Legacy gamers from glitching and getting blocked in certain areas.
The introduction of Arachnophobia Mode in Hogwarts Legacy on all platforms is a welcome move, as it gives more players the opportunity to experience the game without feeling extreme fear or distress in the riskiest parts. PC gamers no longer have to download the Arachnophobia Mode mod for Hogwarts Legacy, and console players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S can also benefit from this feature.
This week, Hogwarts Legacy players who have installed the latest update will be able to acquire the new cosmetic DLC for free. For a restricted period, they can get the DLC by watching Twitch streamers play the game. But, the streamer must activate Twitch drops for the viewer to be eligible to receive it.
Hogwarts Legacy can now be played on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Those who have a PS4 or Xbox One can join in on the fun starting on May 5, and those with the Nintendo Switch will be able to join in on July 25.
