Cats Can be Pet in Hogwarts Legacy
The developers at Avalanche Software have hinted that Hogwarts Legacy will include the ability to stroke the cats that can be found in the common rooms. It’s been a while since the last major Harry Potter video game, so many fans of the wizarding world are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Hogwarts Legacy. Among them, the cat lovers will be able to show their love in-game.
The Harry Potter social media channels have confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy players will be able to have cats as one of the possible pets they can bring to the castle. The game is based on much of the Harry Potter lore, so players can select which house they would like to join (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin), learn spells, and attend classes. As in the Harry Potter films, participants may also bring a pet companion to wizardry school, such as an owl, cat, or toad.
The Twitter account for the Harry Potter films recently revealed that Hogwarts Legacy players will be able to show love to cats in the game, as demonstrated in a video that features a student petting a gray feline. Furthermore, the cats will react to the affection as they would in reality, and players may expect to find a variety of creatures in the game, like the ones that appear in the main series such as Mrs. Norris and Crookshanks.
A question arises with the advent of Hogwarts Legacy, wherein cat owners can pet their cats; what other animals can players interact with and will owls and toads receive similar attention? As evidenced by the player’s Hogwarts Legacy robe colors in the Harry Potter Film video, they seem to be a Gryffindor, but this feature may be available to all students regardless of the house they are in. The Harry Potter franchise is well-known for having professors that can transform into cats, implying that some of them may be transformed teachers and not just the pet of a student or guardian.
In Hogwarts Legacy, each house has a distinct common room with its own unique characters. Therefore, players who join Slytherin may not be able to interact with pets in Gryffindor’s common room, and vice versa. This means that pet-lovers who play the game will have to search every corner and behind every object in Hogwarts if they want to pet cats or any other animals.
Hogwarts Legacy will be available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on February 10, for PS4 and Xbox One on April 4, and for Nintendo Switch on July 25.
