A Reddit user by the name of Tolnin posted an image on the Elden Ring subreddit featuring a tier list for the various crystal tears. It was divided into seven categories, with the top one labeled as Opaline and containing only one item – the Opaline Bubbletear. This is one of the most renowned crystal tears from Elden Ring, as it grants the user 90% damage reduction for three minutes, or until they take a hit. Additionally, it will not be popped if the player is guarding with a shield that has 100% damage negation, but it will disappear if they are two-handing while defending.
The four tiers in the game are S, A, B, and C, with two more tiers called garbage and situational. Tier S has well-known crystal tears such as Crimson Bubbletear, Crimsonwhorl Bubbletear, Opaline Hardtear, and Crimsonburst Crystal Tear. In the other tiers, A, B, and C, there are Spiked Cracked Tear, Thorny Cracked Tear, and Crimsonspill Crystal Tear. The last two tiers have the largest number of items; each has seven crystal tears from Elden Ring. The six in the garbage category increase the player’s strength, stamina, or dexterity, while the seventh, Windy Crystal Tear, boosts dodge rolls.
In certain circumstances, situational tears can be beneficial, such as Lightning-Shrouding Cracked Tears, which temporarily increase lightning damage. Tolnin’s tier list is useful for Elden Ring players who need help deciding which tears to prioritize, as it classifies them according to their effectiveness.
