Seefour, the Phantom Thief, is the Focus of the Fourth Disgaea 7 Character Trailer

Just under one week remains until its January 26 launch, and Nippon Ichi Software has released the fourth character trailer for the upcoming strategy RPG, Disgaea 7. This time, it’s the phantom thief Seefour who is presented to fans. Previously, viewers were introduced to the warrior demon Fuji, the otaku heroine Piririka, and the lazy army general Wei-yasu, in that order.

The character trailer today revealed Seefour to be the renowned phantom thief of the Hinomoto Netherworld. Her exploits have become well-known throughout the kingdom, and the Netherworlders have lovingly nicknamed her the Phantom Thief Mouse Girl. Seefour follows in the footsteps of others before her, keeping her true identity hidden beneath a masquerade mask.

Seefour’s usually flighty attitude can be forgotten when she encounters gunpowder; the substance is like catnip to her, and merely one whiff is enough to put her into a maniacal frenzy. Gunpowder has a way of making her obsessed with explosions, her signature move being the launch of a series of bombs with a purple bow on each one.

Seefour, a phantom thief, is only interested in taking from the Oedo Shogunate and their associates. When Fuji and Piririka first meet her, she appears to have her sights set on sacred items that suspiciously resemble the Seven Weapons of Origin that Fuji and Piririka are searching for. Whether the two are one and the same will be revealed as the story of the game progresses.

For Disgaea 7, Rina Kitagawa, a Japanese voice actress, has been tapped to provide the voice of Seefour. Kitagawa’s previous roles have included that of Lunafreya Nox Fleuret in Final Fantasy XV and Jang Ha-ri in the Japanese dub of the Korean Netflix series All Of Us Are Dead, for which a second season has been officially confirmed by Netflix.

On January 26th, Disgaea 7 will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch exclusively in Japan. Nippon Ichi Software hasn’t mentioned any plans to bring the game to other regions yet. The next character trailer will be unveiled on the 18th, featuring Suisen, an antagonist and mechanical clairvoyant.

As 2022 comes to a close, the rollercoaster of RPGs it brought us — the majestic Elden Ring, the dystopian Diablo Immortal, and the strange Weird West — has left us wondering what mechanically dense RPG we’ll be devoting our time to next year. Here at DualShockers, we also ponder what horror games 2023 will bring, and what other video games might be on the way. We do quite a bit of wondering here.

Our beloved readers, we wanted to investigate which RPGs our editorial team is most excited for in 2023. We asked around the office and the answers were interesting, ranging from grunts and groans to an unexpected bout of interpretive dancing (courtesy of Robert). In any case, please feast your eyes on our most anticipated RPGs of 2023!
