Open Beta Dates Announced for Diablo 4
Blizzard recently revealed that the open beta and early access for their upcoming action RPG, Diablo 4, will be running from March 24 to March 26, with the full game being released in less than four months. This announcement comes amid a hectic period for the company. Diablo 4 is soon to be released to the public.
At an all-hands meeting on Zoom, Blizzard President Mike Ybarra made a statement that caused many of the company’s employees to feel dejected and angry. Subsequently, the staff expressed their dissatisfaction on social media, accusing Ybarra and other Activision Blizzard executives of not understanding the situation. With the launch of Diablo 4 approaching, and with the success of projects such as World of Warcraft: Dragonflight that have been produced in a work-from-home environment, it is yet to be seen how the backlash will affect the company and the upcoming beta and early-access periods for Diablo 4.
The open beta testing phase for Diablo 4 is set to last from March 24 to 26. However, those who pre-purchased the game will be granted exclusive early access from March 17 to 19. This announcement was made by Rod Fergusson, the general manager for the Diablo series, during the second day of the IGN Fan Fest. This announcement was accompanied by a new, suspenseful trailer that provides a glimpse of Horadrim’s trials in the aftermath of Lilith’s return. Lilith is the main antagonist of Diablo 4 and is the daughter of Mephisto, one of the Prime Evils that was featured in Diablo 2. Those who participate in the open beta will be able to play the prologue and the first act of the game, with a level cap of 25. More information about the game and the open beta will be shared during a developer stream at 11:00 AM PST on Tuesday, February 28.
Open Beta Periods for Diablo 4 Announced
- Between March 17 and 19, early access will be available through pre-ordering
- The open beta period will take place between March 24 and 26
With the full launch of Diablo 4 scheduled for June 6, the open beta period will start with just over two months until the game’s release. The arrival of other June releases like Final Fantasy 16 may prompt Blizzard to consider altering the release date at the last possible moment. The only way to know if this is the case is to wait and observe how players respond during the beta.
Diablo fans won’t have to wait long for content to be available as Season 28 of Diablo 3 is starting next Friday, February 24. This could be the last full season before Diablo 4 is released, but there will still be plenty for players to do between both games, with loot to get and demons to defeat.
The long-awaited Diablo 4 will be made available on June 6 to all gamers on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
