Another Update is Coming Up for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Next-Gen Version

A potential patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt may be available in the near future. This follows shortly after the launch of the next-gen update for The Witcher 3, which introduced native versions for the new consoles as well as additional content.

Despite some reports of technical difficulties on PC, the much-anticipated next-gen update was largely well-received and caused a spike in players for The Witcher 3. Many thought that CD Projekt Red had gone above and beyond with the free patch, which featured more than just the typical performance and ray-tracing options. The patch also included an alternate way to cast Signs, a new camera angle, and a new quest inspired by the Netflix series.

The Witcher Twitter account gave an overview of what fans could anticipate from the physical release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition. This edition includes all improvements, both expansions, and all the DLCs. It’s a great choice for gamers who haven’t yet experienced Geralt’s adventure, but be advised that some features might be limited based on the version. For instance, consoles from the previous generation can’t pause gameplay during cutscenes and lack a photo mode, unlike PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.

The tweet wrapped up with the line “keep your eyes peeled for a new patch – coming very soon!” When asked for a more precise timeline, Marcin Momot, CD Projekt Red’s Global Community Director, replied “definitely not this week,” but then added “hopefully [next week] but still pending confirmation.” No details have been released at this point concerning what this patch will bring, but players should not expect anything more than fixes for bugs, quests and performance. This would be the first patch for The Witcher 3 since a few hotfixes were released last month, designed to improve PC stability.

CD Projekt Red is still hard at work on porting some additional content to the Nintendo Switch, though the release date remains to be announced. Apart from The Witcher 3, fans have something to look forward to with the recent announcement of an entire new Witcher series and a remake of the first game of the trilogy. An expansion and a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 are likely to arrive before these projects, but it is reassuring to know that Witcher enthusiasts will be well-equipped in the future.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now purchasable on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One and Series X/S.
