Return of a Long-Absent Character in Destiny 2’s Lightfall Expansion
Once completing the Destiny 2 Lightfall storyline, players become eligible for a range of further activities and missions on Neomuna; indicating the return of a character that had been previously considered deceased. Since the release of Destiny 2 in 2017, there have been numerous transformations to the game, some of which have been quite unpopular among the fan base and included sunsetting or vaulting content. Through the feedback of fans, Bungie has arrived at a system that is much more appreciated, which includes the discontinuation of sunsetting Destiny 2 expansions and the addition of mission rotators to restore earlier material.
Before the launch of Beyond Light, probably one of the most notable alterations in Destiny 2 was popularized. This season introduced the entrance of the Darkness and Pyramid ships, and the final event removed a large number of locations from the game, such as Titan, Mars, Mercury, and Io. Consequently, a vast amount of content, as well as characters, were taken away, including the surly Awoken Warlock Asher Mir, who had a suitable end to his story. However, it appears as though his tale may not be all concluded just yet.
Completing the main objective in Destiny 2: Lightfall is not the end of the experience. Afterward, gamers can partake in new missions and activities, including Partition: Hard Reset. This mission involves Fireteams battling the Vex and Shadow Cabal on Neomuna [1]. Interestingly, however, players have discovered that Asher Mir did not die as initially assumed, but instead has become a part of the Vex Network.
The Defuse the Bomb stages of Partition: Hard Reset in Destiny 2 can be seen in clips from players such as Chadratticus and Raz. Raz discovered a hologram at a distance while Chadratticus found one that was much closer and more detailed. Furthermore, the game has a voice line in Lightfall that mentions Asher Mir by name with an NPC Quinn being perplexed by a Guardian code coming from the Vex Network.
In addition, those investigating the exotic sparrow for Season of Defiance exposed fresh data. On the raid-secrets subReddit for Destiny 2, a user named PieStealingJames deciphered the Morse code inscribed in the lore for the sparrow, which translated to StillAlive/InsideNetwork/IdiotKids. Long-time players of the game are aware that Asher is inclined to be bad-tempered, voicing his discontent about the younger generation who leap into something before considering the consequences. It’s uncertain if Bungie has future intentions for Asher, however, with three more seasons prior to The Final Shape still in store, it’s likely that fans of the Warlock haven’t seen the last of him.
The latest installment of Destiny 2: Lightfall can now be experienced on PC, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
