Carla Joins the Cast of Dead Island 2
In the lead-up to the game’s April launch, Deep Silver has just shared a trailer introducing a new character in their Dead Island 2 franchise, Carla. While the initial Dead Island and Riptide titles gained some recognition, the series has been overshadowed by other zombie games in recent years, but the upcoming Dead Island 2 might bring back the original hype.
Continuing its series, Deep Silver has introduced one of the slayers of Dead Island 2, Carla, who appears to focus on close combat. Currently, Amy, Jacob, Ryan, and Dani have been confirmed as part of Dead Island 2’s cast. Each character brings their advantages, cons, and personalities to the table. In the next couple of months leading up to the game’s launch, more Dead Island 2 characters may be revealed to join the already divergent group.
Recently, the Dead Island 2 YouTube channel released a video that featured the hero Carla and her two special attacks, Dig Deep and Mosh Pit. The former is depicted by a card that shows Carla crashing down on a group of zombies with a shockwave, like knocking over pins in bowling. The latter is represented by a card that has a distressed Carla being grabbed at by ghostly hands, with cracks covering her body. Both of these attacks are like those seen in games such as Inscryption and Gwent, and are quite powerful against the undead.
The latest Dead Island 2 gameplay previewed in the Carla clip suggests that some of the zombies might be more powerful than others, with one that appears to use the Unrelenting Force shout from Skyrim. Carla is said to be from Los Angeles, has an adrenaline addiction, and was a mechanic before the zombie outbreak. Additionally, the trailer provides a preview of the vocal performance of the playable Dead Island 2 character that players will get to experience as the game releases.
It is possible that Dead Island 2 fans will have even more cosmetic choices than what comes with the collector’s edition, which includes a weapon and character pack. While other titles, such as State of Decay 2, have added additional characters through DLC, it is yet to be determined if Dead Island 2 will provide more slayers at launch.
Dead Island 2 will be available on April 28 for gamers who own PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
