The team behind Dead Cells, Motion Twin, recently unveiled a teaser for the upcoming DLC, Return to Castlevania. The video provided a sneak peek of what gamers can expect when the new content is released shortly.

When Dead Cells made its debut back in May 2017, it was widely acclaimed by both fans and critics alike. Metacritic gave the game an impressive 89 for its critic score and a user score of 8.1. Many praised the game for its remarkable level design, peculiar boss battles, and its one-of-a-kind gameplay loop that offered a different experience on every playthrough. With the immense success the title gathered, some players wished for more from the developers. As a response, Motion Twin released DLC for Dead Cells.

A trailer for Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania was released, clocking in at under 40 seconds. The video provided a glimpse of the upcoming expansion, displaying new environments, enemies, and weapons. Furthermore, the trailer confirmed the expansion’s release date in Q1 of this year, with a price of $9.99.

At The Game Awards 2022, Motion Twin unveiled an animated trailer for the upcoming expansion pack and announced that it will include more than 20 new costumes for gamers, more than 60 pieces of music from the Castlevania universe, as well as weapons like throwing axes and holy water for taking on the Castlevania-inspired adversaries.

The DLC for Dead Cells has been a great way to maintain fan interest, particularly with the success of The Queen and the Sea expansion. The upcoming fourth expansion, Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania, looks to be the largest one yet.

Dead Cells has earned itself a place among the premier roguelikes thanks to its intense hack-and-slash combat and difficult levels. Though, some supporters have been uncertain about the new DLC due to its cost. The developers of the game have responded to this by stating that the price “mirrors the fact that the DLC is substantially larger than what has been released in the past.”

Dead Cells can be played on a variety of platforms, including Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. Its associated Castlevania DLC will be released in the early part of 2023.
