Celebrating May with Pokemon: Daily Drawings of Trainer May

During the month of May, an ardent Pokemon admirer and artist has been creating daily artworks depicting the Pokemon trainer as well, who goes by the same name of the month. This oeuvre has been shared on social networks, and has been warmly received by other Pokemon fans, who have also been reminiscing about their cherished moments from the animated series.

The main series of Pokemon games includes Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire for the Game Boy Advance, as well as their 3DS remakes Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. May is one of the default names for the female player character in these titles. In the anime, May has the same design, with her starter Pokemon being Torchic. She and her brother Max accompanied Ash Ketchum and Brock in their exploration of Hoenn, and May also took part in Pokemon contests with the ambition to become a top coordinator. A fan artist recently commemorated the month of May with artwork featuring May in different situations.

Recently, 0takuman76 shared ten drawings of May on the r/Pokemon subreddit, one for each day. May was accompanied by her team of Pokémon, including Munchlax, and several gym leaders from the series. In the second drawing, she explored Unova’s Castelia City with Elesa and Skyla. Following the order of regions from the Pokemon series, each drawing was posted on the corresponding date, which was hidden in each piece. Finally, the tenth drawing showed May visiting Ash’s home, where she was welcomed by his mother and Mr. Mime in the garden.

The comments section proved to be filled with appreciation for the OP’s sketches that featured May in various crafty situations. Some puns were made, as well, based on her name. Additionally, one user noted May as being one of their top favorite companions from the Pokemon anime, alongside Misty. With three weeks of May left, it’s uncertain what 0takuman76 will post next.

The fame of May, as seen during her time in the limelight, has since faded, yet Pokemon enthusiasts persist in creating fan art as a means of keeping her and Ash’s other traveling companions in the public eye. As of now, there has been no official confirmation of Ash reappearing after Pokemon Journeys, so only time will tell if he and his pals will come back.
