A Fresh Update for the 7-Year-Old Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is Coming

Tomorrow, Ubisoft is releasing a patch for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, seven years after the launch of the action-adventure title. It is uncommon for single-player games to get sustained support over time, but Assassin’s Creed is a well-known series and fans often come back to play older entries. Although Assassin’s Creed Syndicate may not be one of the most popular Assassin’s Creed games, Ubisoft still wants it to be enjoyable and workable on modern platforms.

In 2015, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate was released as a successor to Assassin’s Creed Unity from the previous year, coming after the completion of the original trilogy with Ezio Auditore. However, it became clear that Assassin’s Creed was suffering from exhaustion and poor sales, resulting in a shorter gap between releases until Assassin’s Creed Origins dropped in 2017.

On February 23, Ubisoft will be releasing a patch for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate to address a technical issue that has been affecting the PlayStation 4 version of the game when played on PlayStation 5. Reportedly, the “flickering issue” that occurs makes the game unplayable, and this update should be able to fix the issue and make the game more widely available in 2023 and beyond.

Ubisoft has not revealed any further details regarding the Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Title Update 1.53 which is due to be released tomorrow. This leads one to believe that the PlayStation 5 flickering issue must be quite severe, as it is not yet resolved. There may be other, undisclosed modifications that come along with the update, though there is no confirmation of this.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate New Update

It has been six years since Assassin’s Creed Syndicate received an update in the form of Title Update 1.52, which addressed stability issues. Before that, the focus had been on PlayStation 4 Pro enhancements and stability. It is worth noting that the game is no longer actively supported, which may explain why it took so long to make it compatible with PS5. Not many people at Ubisoft have been tending to the game for years.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate must be able to be played without any issues on PlayStation 5 from tomorrow onwards. This will enable owners of Sony’s most recent console to take a look at a less popular portion of the Assassin’s Creed series and to engage with a crucial part of the narrative. Although Ubisoft may not be able to do the same as Assassin’s Creed advances with each new generation, it is still great that they can do this now.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is now up for grabs on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
